Biography

Kai Mara is an electronic percussionist attempting to narrow the gap between classical performance and modern electronic styles. His live shows cover a wide range of genres from bass to trance and feature a variety of instruments including the Malletkat, a MIDI xylophone. Putting the drum sticks aside, Kai Mara also DJs in all styles including bass, house, disco, and hip hop. Audiences at a Kai Mara set can expect a unique combination of both original tracks and covers of the hottest dance charts.

Kai Mara has performed lived in various NYC venues such as Brooklyn Monarch, Pianos, and Drom. During the pandemic, he kept busy by creating and streaming new sets on multiple platforms on Twitch, raising money for the Black Visions Collective. He has also collaborated with The Encounters Dance Ensemble where he performed alongside ballet dancers at the Alvin Ailey Institute
